MAIS CA VIENDRA....
The food space has been undergoing a significant shift in
the past few years, driven by changing consumer behavior and a new crop
of food companies that are looking to reimagine food as we know it.
Plant-based proteins are on the rise and dairy-free milks are rapidly
becoming a staple in a large number of American homes. The plant-based
foods sector has reached $3.5 billion with an 8.7% growth
rate in the past two years. We are in the early stages of the
development of a whole new food sub-sector that has the power to shape
our food system into a more sustainable and just one. But this new
economy lacks the essential building blocks, namely definition and
structure that can help accelerate its growth.
To meet this need and be a catalyst for this new industry, I am excited to launch a new resource on One Green Planet called “Future of Food” that showcases the rise of a food ecosystem dominated by sustainable, plant-based products. The page (onegreenplanet.org/future-of-food)
is going to function as a one-stop-shop, highlighting consumer
insights, market trends, new product launches, news and opinions from
leaders in the space, and much more.
We’re also unveiling a snapshot of this new food ecosystem
in the graphic below. It captures a constellation of product categories
and brands that comprise this rising ecosystem, along with key players
in the space.
