Earlier this year, McDonald’s tested a vegan burger in Tampere, Finland, from October 4th through November 21st.The “McVegan,” a soy-based patty with all fixings, was developed by Anamma, a food company in Sweden. It ended up performing so well during the trial phase that McDonald’s decided to make it a permanent addition to the menu. On December 28, 2017, the “McVegan” will be included on menus nationwide in not only Finland but Sweden, as well.

“The test in Finland blew all the expectations out of the water” said Staffan Ekstam, Head of Food Strategy at McDonald’s in Sweden.
