✦✦ABOUT THE VIDEO:JORDAN OCTOBER 2013 "Festival of Sacrifice (Eid al Adha)" Thousands of Australian sheep have been illegally sold and brutally killed in Jordan, in widespread and systemic breaches of Australian live export regulations.
A terrified Australian sheep is thrown down violently and dragged by one leg across the rocky ground. Others lay dead and dying on the street around him. A foot stomps down on his neck. With a short blunt knife, his throat is sawn at, while his legs scramble in vain. When his throat is cut, he is left in the dirt, to bleed out, until he loses consciousness.most of these sheeps are in a very bad conditions due to the long transport by vessel from Australia and being held without water and food for more than 48 hours..before savagely being slaughtered..tragically, as a result, thousands of sheep have payed the ultimate price!!
-A few weeks ago, on the other side of the world, one of Australia's biggest live exporters saw an opportunity to make an extra profit. It would require them to breach the terms of their export license — again. Thousands of Australian animals would be illegally sold; legs tied; stuffed into car boots and brutally 'sacrificed' in the streets of Jordan.Now, instead of enjoying watching their bank balance rise, 'Livestock Shipping Services' has been exposed in a damning national TV exposé. The australian Government has commenced a formal investigation, and everyone from animal welfare groups, to the live exporters' council and Prime Minister Tony Abbott are calling for action to be taken against rule breakers.
✦As more live export ships prepare for departure, more animals are being placed into the 'care' of exporters like LSS. Some think they can break the rules and abandon animals to unspeakable cruelty — without repercussions ! Animals Australia's live export investigations in the Middle East have revealed that the millions of animals who died en route may well have been the fortunate ones. They have also revealed Australia's live export industry's culpability in the cruel treatment of all animals in the region. Millions of local people throughout the region believe that Australians approve of their treatment of animals due to our willingness to supply them...
✦Rather than inspiring desperately needed change we are reinforcing long held beliefs that this treatment of animals is acceptable and that animals are simply property to be traded and slaughtered...
