Have you ever thought about where your eggs come from? From the day they hatch until the day they are violently killed, egg-laying hens suffer short lives of misery and deprivation. A breaking Mercy For Animals undercover investigation at a farm that supplies eggs to grocery stores across the U.S. has exposed sickening animal cruelty. At Shady Brae Farms in Pennsylvania, thousands of hens were crammed into cages so small the birds were never able to walk, perch, fully stretch their wings, or do nearly anything that came naturally to them. Birds with swollen eyes, bleeding prolapses, extreme feather loss, and other serious injuries were denied veterinary care. Those who died from the horrid conditions were often left rotted beyond recognition in cages with hens still laying eggs for human consumption. |

Sadly,
these are not isolated incidents; past MFA investigations have
uncovered similarly shocking abuses at egg farms across the country.
Please take a moment to sign our petition urging United Egg Producers to stop certifying farms that torture hens in inherently cruel cages. Then please share the hidden-camera video with friends and encourage them to take action too. And remember, the best way to ensure you are not supporting the needless suffering of hens is to leave eggs off your plate. |
