Breaking news: 8 MORE COUNTRIES COMPLY WITH THE SOW STALL BAN

Following our email earlier this week, we wanted to let you know the latest, breaking news about violations of the EU partial sow stall ban.

Yesterday the EU Commission issued formal notices (the first stage of legal proceedings) against 9 countries* that have failed to comply with the sow stall ban.

This means that 8 out of 17 countries that the Commission previously reported as defying the ban are now believed to be fully compliant. However, whilst this is incredibly positive news, we take this information with a pinch of salt. Our past experience with the barren battery cage ban suggests that illegal practices could be discovered in countries believed to be compliant, so we must keep up the fight right across Europe.
