Each year, pigs are being killed in emergency medicine training at the
University of Missouri Columbia School Of Medicine (Mizzou). They need your help! The Physicians Committee filed a federal complaint to stop the practice, but Mizzou still refuses to change its ways! At Mizzou, trainees are instructed to cut into the animal's throat, chest, and abdominal cavity in order to insert needles and tubes, and to practice cardiac procedures. If the animals survive the invasive procedures, they are killed before the final procedure is performed.
Innocent pigs don't deserve to suffer and die through this horrific practice! It's wrong, especially when there are superior, nonanimal training methods available. Mizzou already has a state-of-the-art simulation center that could replace the use of animals, and more effectively train students.
Sign the petition below to Mizzou staff now! Urge them to immediately replace the use of live pigs in their emergency medicine residency program.
