This photo taken by Sea Shepherd Conservation Society shows Japanese fishermen riding a boat loaded with slaughtered dolphins at a blood-covered water cove in Taiji harbor, in Japan's Wakayama prefecture.

Thousands of UK animal lovers have added their voices to a 500,000-strong petition protesting against a controversial six-month dolphin hunting season in Japan.
The latest hunt began in the now infamous town of Taiji at the beginning of September.
Animal rights campaigners reported the first cull of the season on September 14, after bad weather postponed hunting.
According to activists, dolphins were killed before being taken to Taiji harbour where they were unloaded to butchers' houses and sold.
The annual catch - in which fishermen corral hundreds of dolphins into a secluded bay and butcher them - was thrust into the global spotlight by 2009 Oscar-winning documentary The Cove.
