ORGANIC DAIRY = VEAL (explained by a former dairy & beef farmer)
"As soon as a cow [in the dairy industry] has her calf, you take the
calf away because you need the milk for production but the calf ends up
as part of a veal. The veal industry exists because OF the dairy
industry; it is a by product of it. There is some cases where those
mothers will go dry for a while; they will quit producing milk because
they are in mourning for their calf.
Calves are kept in the dark in veal
crates. They are tied at the neck so that they can't turn around, can't
move. They are given a diet that's devoid of iron; they are
intentionally kept anemic so it keeps the meat [of the calf] white. And
when they are a little bit bigger then they are sent to slaughter. A lot
of the times, they can't even walk when they are taken out of the veal
crates because they are so anemic. They have never had any exercise or
anything and have to be dragged out." — Harold Brown
