Emotions ran high in court on Thursday as an alleged dog abuser stood before a judge in the Norfolk Superior Court to see if he would be granted bail, reported Friday's Boston Herald.
The individual appearing before Judge Susan Garsh was Radoslaw Czerkawski, the Polish native who is accused of sadistically torturing a young dog who has come to be known as "Puppy Doe."
Judge Garsh denied Czerkawski bail, much to the relief and delight of the animal lovers who stood in the same room with the alleged dog abuser.
Czerkawski was arraigned on 12 charges of animal cruelty and one charge of misleading police; charges which stemmed from the alleged torture and abuse of Puppy Doe, who was discovered in Quincy, Mass., in late August.

Puppy Doe was alive when she was initially found, but her injuries were so severe that she had to be euthanized. The young pit bull had been starved, beaten and stabbed; her abuse was described as "sadistic."

In late September, the necropsy results on the tortured dog were released; the findings confirmed that Puppy Doe had endured ongoing, extensive abuse. Czerkawski is believed to have obtained his young canine victim through Craigslist.
Czerkawski, who the judge felt would be a flight risk, is due back in court on Feb. 11.
