VICOIRE DE PETA POUR LES OURS

I'd like to tell you about an important update regarding Chief Saunooke Bear Park since you filled out an online petition following PETA's recent investigation into the hellish pit. PETA filed multiple complaints with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) regarding egregious violations of the Animal Welfare Act at the park, which must now surrender its exhibitor license and pay a fine. Click here to read more about the fine and suspended license.

As you know, our investigation revealed that workers were deliberately depriving bears of food and that the animals are so stressed from being constantly confined to small, concrete pits that they pace repeatedly and gnaw at the metal cage bars. Our investigation also uncovered drug use, racism, wage-law violations, and that at least one bear held captive at the park was shot and eaten. A new PETA blog highlights many of the unbelievable conversations recorded by our investigator that helped land the bear abusers in hot water.

As a result of the investigation, nearly 50,000 people asked the USDA to seize these abused bears and place them in a safe, reputable sanctuary, and we are still hopeful that the agency will take this final step to get the bears to safety and revoke the park's license permanently.

If you'd like to do more to help these bears now, please share the investigation on Facebook and ask all your friends to write to the USDA, too. You can share it by clicking here.

Very truly yours,
